Borscht is included to the National list of elements of intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine

Today, October 6, 2020, the Expert Council at the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine voted unanimously for the inclusion of the element "Culture of Ukrainian borscht" in the representative list of intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.

The head of the public organization NGO "Institute of Culture of Ukraine", culinary expert - Eugene Klopotenko said: "This initiative came to me a year ago. I gathered like-minded people: folklorists, historians, analysts, people related to cultural heritage. We merged into a public organization and went through a difficult procedural path. And today borscht is already on this list. "

Deputy Chairwoman Maryna Sobotiuk noted that the most impressive thing during the expedition was the borscht from the blood of a freshly slaughtered boar, which was found by members of our NGO during the expedition to Shchatsk, Volyn. “In general, every community and family welcomed us willingly. We found really unique recipes in each region. "

It should be noted that this is the first time in the Ukrainian history of submitting an Element to the National List, when an all-Ukrainian element is included, not a regional one.

The organization expresses its gratitude to all who were present along the way. We value and listen to everyone.

It should be noted that members of the Institute of Culture of Ukraine during the year collected photo and video materials, consents from the bearers of the element throughout Ukraine to form an account card for submission to the Expert Council.
